Ted Bundy remains one of the most studied serial killers in criminal history.
Early Life
Born Theodore Robert Bundy on November 24, 1946, he grew up believing his mother was his sister. This family secret would later be cited by psychologists as contributing to his psychological development.
The Killing Spree
Bundy confessed to killing 30 women across seven states between 1974 and 1978, though the actual number may be higher. His victims were typically young women with long dark hair parted in the middle.
Modus Operandi
Bundy used his charm and good looks to lure victims. He would often feign injury, wearing a fake cast or using crutches, to appear harmless before abducting his victims.
Capture and Execution
After multiple escapes and continued killing, Bundy was finally captured in Florida. He was executed by electric chair on January 24, 1989.
