Jeffrey Dahmer, known as the Milwaukee Cannibal, committed some of the most gruesome crimes in American history.
Early Warning Signs
From a young age, Dahmer showed disturbing fascination with dead animals and bones. His parents' turbulent divorce further destabilized his adolescence.
The Crimes
Between 1978 and 1991, Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys. His crimes involved necrophilia, cannibalism, and the preservation of body parts.
Capture
Dahmer was finally caught in 1991 when one of his intended victims escaped and led police to his apartment, where they discovered photographs and remains of his victims.
Death
Dahmer was beaten to death by a fellow inmate at the Columbia Correctional Institution in 1994.
