Can I bring golf clubs on a plane?
The short answer
Checked baggage only. Most airlines accept a golf bag as one standard checked piece, though weight and oversize rules still apply.
Carry-on: No
Checked: Yes
Many carriers treat a golf bag as one normal checked bag rather than special sports equipment, which means no surcharge if it is inside your allowance.
A hard travel case is strongly advised. Airline liability for sports equipment damage is limited or excluded in most conditions of carriage.
The rules
- Carry-on
- Not permitted
- Checked baggage
- Usually counts as one standard bag
