The White House confirmed that mysterious drones observed over New Jersey in late 2024 were largely authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated: "After research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons."
Public Response
The sightings sparked widespread concern among residents and state officials. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy urged federal action, while New York's Governor Kathy Hochul called for increased federal intervention.
No Foreign Threat
Despite speculation linking the drones to foreign threats, the Department of Defense categorically denied any Iranian involvement. Former Biden defense official John Kirby emphasized: "We know that there's no national security threat."
